Efficient Science

While the global benefits of scientific research in Antarctica certainly outweigh the costs, conducting research in locations as remote and challenging as this continent does not come cheaply. The New Zealand Antarctic Research Institute operates as a ‘virtual‘ entity. This means that financial contributions go directly to the Institute’s research programme rather than being dissipated by costly administration or building infrastructure.

As a result, the Institute can concentrate on its core role - getting scientists together to work on projects that produce scientific results that benefit us all.
